Explore the Space topic by creating your own galaxy painting with your little ones! This fun activity is not only a great way to explore the theme of space but actively encourages children to engage in a bit of messy play. In addition to this, the use of paint sprayers and paint sticks encourages children to strengthen their hand muscles and will support fine motor development.

Simply follow our easy step-by-step guide below or watch our video below to create your “out of this world” masterpiece.

Art Materials You Will Need:

To make your masterpiece:

  1. Start by choosing your paint colours. We stuck to the space theme and chose blue, silver and purple but you could use any colours to create your own unique galaxy
  2. Fill up your paint spritzers with your chosen paint and add a piece of black card on top of a waterproof mat (this can get messy).
  3. It’s time to get spraying! Encourage your little ones to use various droppers and spritzers to encourage small muscle development. This in turn will support future pencil control for writing.
  4. Why not add some glitter onto the still wet paint splashes to add a sparkly finishing touch
  5. Once your paint is dry why not revisit the painting to add hand drawn stars using crayons and paint sticks. You could even add even planets and aliens!
