Now that the seasons are changing and autumn leaves are falling, it is the perfect time to explore the changing environment and the different colours. Encourage your little ones to get inspired by the season and create a beautiful Autumn leaf suncatcher!
You will need:
- Black Card
- Tissue paper (try to select autumnal colours)
- Scissors
- String
- Hole punch
How to make your Autumn Leaf Suncatcher:
- Start by folding your black card in half and cutting out your leaf shapes so that you have two identical leaves. These leaves can be different shapes and sizes!
- Supervising your little one, cut out the centre of the leaves to leave a hole.
- Select a sheet of tissue paper and glue the paper to one side of your black leaf outline. Next glue your identical black leaf outline to the other side of the tissue paper to sandwich it in
- Trim the excess tissue paper from around the black card
- Punch a hole in the top of your leaf and thread your string through. Make sure to tie a knot after each leaf to keep them evenly spaced.
- Repeat this process for all of your leaves and there you have a suncatcher! Why not hang this string of leaves up near a window and see what happens when the sun passes through the different colours?
